I am a 57 yr. old Black male with a strong and non-negotiable commitment to deploy my scholarship, work, and life in the interests of those who have been mentally, emotionally, and/or physically victimized and disabled by persons, institutions, and social practices that have been routinely maintained and perpetuated. I hope to invite and engage the discipline of psychology in the historical struggle for social justice and equality. I have had the privilege of working many years as a Social Worker and Psychotherapist. As a result of these years of observation and service, I have concluded that the effort to help our clients neutralize and counteract forces and conditions that corrupt psychological well-being, inhibit emotional stability, negate inherent potential, and limit productive living must do more than facilitate individual transformation; we must also cultivate capacities in our client-constituency that will enable them to address, challenge, and neutralize external conditions and sources of psychosocial and emotional violence.
At this juncture upon my journey, I truly believe that deepening my understanding and scholarship in Psychology, with an emphasis on Cognition and Instruction will serve both my interests and the interests of my preferred clients - the historically marginalized, excluded, exploited, and oppressed. I invite and welcome all feedback, commentary, and criticism. Without it, my learning and growth will be limited.
