Through in class exercises; the viewing of a video; and communicating and collaborating within small and large groups students will learn about the nature of biases and stereotyping that could be influenced by power, privilege and discrimination.
Three (3) group workshops/exercises will be completed in class, and students will be graded on their participation and contribution to the workshops/exercises. These group work exercises will assist the students to examine personal and professional practices through an equity lens.
At mid semester (Week 7) students will complete an in class case study (individually). It will address topics that have been covered in class, however the case study will focus on real life scenarios, in particular ones that may present themselves in a child care environment or in an ECE college classroom.
